Kim Kardashian SUES Old Navy over a LOOKALIKE!

Looks like the money hungry ho is at it again! This time a lawsuit! The million dollar heiress who's father was OJ Simpson's lawyer in the 90's is now suing Gap Inc. aka Old Navy over TV ads that showed a girl that looks like a spitting image of Kim herself. According to TMZ, she hopes to recover $20 Million dollars (with an "M") from Gap Inc. for using Melissa Molinaro as her "stand-in". And her attorney Gary Hecker said in a statement
“Kim Kardashian is immediately recognizable, and is known for her look and style. Her identity and persona are valuable. When her intellectual property rights are violated, she intends to enforce them.”
Melissa backfired by tweeting
"Were still talking about this?! Its JULY this aired in February...some people have too much time on there hands."
But seriously, Kardashian's got LOTS of inheritance, famous for God knows what, and has her own TV show on E!. As if that's not enough, she has her own perfume line, co owner of a fashion boutique, and works as a model for numerous companies. Don't seem like she's satisfied with what she's got. Now if that doesn't sound like greed, I don't know what is.
Check out the commercial and see for yourself!

Axed ABC Soaps Live On!

All soap fans out there as well as myself can rejoyce. As a faithful and loyal soap fan, I am pleased to hear this news and that things are looking up for a change in the soap world! Cancelled ABC soaps, "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" will breathe new life after their television cancellation dates. After their television cancellation date, the shows will be online exclusive shows that will only be accessed to those who have access to the internet. For the younger and computer literate generations this will be a breeze to watch. However non computer users may find it a challenge to watch this show on the web. No word as to which characters will be reprising their roles, respectively. This past April, the news was announced that "All My Children" would end it's 40 year run in September 2011 and "One Life to Live" would end it's 40+ year run in January 2012. Many fans were outraged by the news, even going as far as protests at ABC Studios, Hoover removing their ads on ABC stations, and petitions all across the country. Fans pleaded for their shows to stay on the air. As most know, the soap opera genre, that was once a money making business, is obviously dying. In the past 2 years, long running soaps, "Guiding Light" and "As the World Turns", have been cancelled due to low ratings and not enough funds to support the show. Even "General Hospital", a soap opera with a high reputation in the past, has been rumored that it may not continue to air after 2012, after ABC plans to air a Katie Couric talk show on their daytime lineup (no word on if and when this show will happen). AMC and OLTL will be replaced by healthy living talk shows, "The Chew" and "The Revolution".

New York Passes Same Sex Marriage Laws Today!

Today, a bill was passed today that would allow gay and lesbian couples to be legally married in the state of New York. Many citizens were excited of the news and others... not so much! New York is one of 6 states to pass a same sex marriage law in the US. New York is also the largest state to pass this law. New York also has a large gay community including bars, groups, underground nightclubs and much more. Many states are trying to pass this law but many states are rejecting this law due to religious beliefs and personal preference. What do you think of the new law?

New Tech Alert! Virgin Mobile to pick up the Motorola Triumph!

Big news to frugals and tech geeks out there! Virgin Mobile is yet again paving the way for new Android phones! Introducing the Motorola Triumph. An Android phone that looks a lot like a Droid X (the same maker of the Triumph, might I add), minus the QWERTY keyboard. And this one sure does blow the other prepaid Android devices out the water! The Triumph packs in a punch according to Motorola's website and its loaded with Facebook widgets, stock Android software (rest assured Motorola users, Motoblur is NOT going to be on this device), a 5 megapixel camera on the back AND, get this, a VGA camera on the front for Skype and self portraits, AND HDMI out! Which is A LOT for a prepaid phone. Usually prepaid carriers don't have the nice bells and whistles as contract phones and most prepaid phones, let's be honest, are a piece of crap. But on paper, the Motorola Triumph breaks the barrier of piece of crap and finally gives us money savers out there, a deal of the decade! As of now, there is no price range for this phone but I've got a good feeling judging from the price of the LG Optimus V and Samsung Intercept (2 previous Android devices on Virgin), this phone will probably be ranging from $200-$300 at launch. Now I do know that the phone will be released July 19th. Perfect timing for back to school time and those who are college bound this coming school year!

UPDATE: I just got word that the Motorola Triumph is now on preorder at Best Buy for $299.

Meet Kathy Beth Terry!

You probably don't know her now, but you definitely will in about a week or so. Meet Kathy Beth Terry, the alter ego of Katy Perry. A nerdy girl from the late 80's and early 90's who swoons over Jonathan Taylor Thomas (of Home Improvement and Lion King fame) and Hanson. And enjoys doing Sudoku puzzles, and hopping on a Skip-it (sounds like the awesomeness of the 90's to me!). So why does Katy Perry need a "alter ego"? Why to promote her new video of course! Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) is Katy's (ahem Kathy's) latest single that is hitting the radio stations and, from the looks of it, a potential summer jam (If it is, this makes it Katy's 3RD summer hit, the other 2 being "I Kissed A Girl" and "California Gurls") The video will feature the nerdy yet adorable Kathy Beth Terry along with a cameo featuring another Friday star, Rebecca Black, who plays a rich popular girl that lives next door to Kathy who is throwing a party at her house where the video takes place. Another cameo appearance is in order with Kevin McHale, best known for his role as the wheelchair bound Artie on "Glee". The video is set to premiere this Tuesday, June 14th at 12:01PM Eastern Time on funnyordie.com

Check out the teaser at the bottom:

It Gets Better

Here's the deal Pop Expedition explorers! It's time to give some attention to those who don't get it and time to get real. There's been lots of stories about kids and teens getting bullied about being gay. I'm here to let you guys know that it does get better. As bad as it is now I know it seems like it will just get worse, but trust me, it won't! There are people out there that do care, people who are on your side. There are people that do love you for who you are and that is the best way you can ever possibly be! I'm saying this out of love because I do love you guys. I'm saying this because of my best friends, my closest family, the people I go to school with, because if they can't speak up I will! You are beautiful inside and out and there is no one to tell you different! Although it may seem like the universe is the worst, just remember that there are people out there that do love you just for who you are as a person and not the person that people talk about being gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans-gender, or anything else for that matter.

Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen on "Men"

Just when we thought 2 1/2 Men had been cancelled, turns out the news has turned around. Unfortunately, Charlie Sheen will not be returning to CBS' "Men" but a familiar face to showbiz is going to play the role of Charlie, Ashton Kutcher, who's starred in numerous films including "The Butterfly Effect" and "Killers" and starred as Michael Kelso in the hit FOX sitcom, "That '70's Show". As of now, 2 1/2 Men will return for another season on CBS this coming fall with new episodes featuring Kutcher. All we can say, we wish Ashton the best of luck, it's definitely gonna get some gettin' used to for "Men" and hopefully the ratings will do well with Ashton in the mix!

SHOCKER: PlayStation Network HACKED and customer's personal information was STOLEN!

OK so I've heard a lot about hacking today... my friend's sister's Facebook was "hacked", more like retrieved on a store phone (EPIC FAIL!), Lady Gaga's Twitter was obviously hacked according to Gaga herself. And now words is out from Sony themselves that PlayStation Network has in fact been hacked. And the hacker may have even stolen millions of customer's personal information. Including, phone numbers, addresses, and even credit card numbers (and I thought these big name companies had some tight security on their websites... hmm?). Take a look at this statement made by Sony themselves:

"Although we are still investigating the details of this incident, we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained."
The Network being taken down also leaves streaming sites like, Netflix (NOT MY NETFLIX!!!), Hulu Plus, and other services in the dark on PS3's. However Vudu, Walmart's HD streaming site has not been affected (figures!).
No word has been out when PSN will finally be back up. So now PSN customers are being asked to stay calm, babysit their dough and pray it doesn't get worse. What do you think of the situation?

Is Lady Gaga's New Single, "Born This Way" a play of Madonna's "Vogue"?

This past Friday, Lady Gaga released her new single, "Born This Way". And has been the talk this weekend. Many saying the song is very creative and is a perfect gay anthem. While other's are saying Lady Gaga is trying too hard to be Madonna. Which I can believe, her Grammy's performance last night was something that Madonna would likely do in the late 80's. Many are saying that the rap portion of the song sounds much like "Vogue". Do you think Lady Gaga is trying to be just another Madonna or do you think she was just "Born This Way"?

Regis Philbin to leave "Live"

Earlier this week, Regis Philbin announced on "Live With Regis and Kelly" that he was going to be retiring from "Live". The news came as a surprise, even the crew and Kelly Ripa were all blindsided by this news. It doesn't come as a surprise considering that he is about 80 years old. So who is going to be replacing him? Many are saying that Ryan Seacrest could possibly be replacing Regis or even Kelly Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos. Here is the clip:

What did you think of the new MTV Series, "Skins"?

This Monday, MTV's newest drama series, Skins, premiered with about 3 millions viewers tuning in that night! This is a remake of the controversial and very popular British series of the same name! However, many viewers weren't so pleased with the US version. Many saying that some of the aspects that made the UK version a hit, were lacking on the US. However, the angst, drugs, sex, and alcohol was obviously present throughout the show. Many character's were also changed. For instance, Stanley's name is actually Sid on the UK version and Cadie's name is really Cassie in the UK. But the most drastic change is the fact that one character was actually replaced in the US series. And that is Maxxie, a gay male who was replaced by Tea, a lesbian cheerleader. After I watched the US version, I watched the first episode of the UK version on Netflix and I could tell that basically the whole US episode was a play-by-play of the UK version's first episode. Except with different characters, and a few changes throughout the settings. If you would like to see for yourself and you have a Netflix account, you can get Seasons 1-3 of the UK version instantly! If you missed the US version, you can catch it online or check MTV.com for future airings!

Oops! Britney done it again with her new single, "Hold It Against Me"!

If you haven't heard Britney's new single, you've been living under a rock! This song is spiraling to the top of the Billboard charts. According to billboard.com, Britney's new single has already reached No. 16 on the Pop Song Charts! Britney currently ties with Madonna. As her 1998 single, "Frozen" reached No. 16 as well on March of the same year. "Hold it Against Me" was just released January 11th. And it has been exclusively released to iTunes and it is currently No. 1 on the iTunes chart as well! Her next album will be her 9th album to be released. No word on exactly when her album will be released or even what the name of the album is! But don't worry, as always we'll keep you posted and let you know when we hear any word about Britney's next album! If you haven't downloaded it, you should! The song is basically about, Britney seducing someone at a club and using pick-up lines throughout the chorus. The song is fist-pump worthy as it packs in a ton of electronic beats, auto-tune, but still keeps the Pop sound! Personally, it is my favorite song of the year, so far! Check it out at the bottom and hear for yourself!
