OK so I've heard a lot about hacking today... my friend's sister's Facebook was "hacked", more like retrieved on a store phone (EPIC FAIL!), Lady Gaga's Twitter was obviously hacked according to Gaga herself. And now words is out from Sony themselves that PlayStation Network has in fact been hacked. And the hacker may have even stolen millions of customer's personal information. Including, phone numbers, addresses, and even credit card numbers (and I thought these big name companies had some tight security on their websites... hmm?). Take a look at this statement made by Sony themselves:
"Although we are still investigating the details of this incident, we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained."The Network being taken down also leaves streaming sites like, Netflix (NOT MY NETFLIX!!!), Hulu Plus, and other services in the dark on PS3's. However Vudu, Walmart's HD streaming site has not been affected (figures!). No word has been out when PSN will finally be back up. So now PSN customers are being asked to stay calm, babysit their dough and pray it doesn't get worse. What do you think of the situation?
