My Two Cents on Miley's Latest Movie, "The Last Song".

This week, the buzz was all over the release of "The Last Song" being released to DVD and Bluray! A lot of people said it was a great movie but a lot of people said Miley's acting was very "amateur". So there were a lot of mixed signals. And being a movie buff, I don't care I just rent it and if I like it a lot, I'll buy it! Plus, knowing that ALL of Nicholas Sparks' books that were turned into movies are usually very good. Now I'm not the type that will watch a ton of chick flicks. But by no means is this a chick flick, in my opinion. It's coming of age, and personally is great for the whole family, as it shows ups and down of a teen relationship and the death of *someone* (coughs). I don't like chick flicks that much, but being that I'm a fan of Miley Cyrus' work, I made an exception.
Now anyway, I have to say the movie had a great beginning, middle, and end. It wasn't sappy either and wasn't too "soapy", if you know what I mean. Typically, when you watch a chick flick or a romantic drama, you usually get elements of soap operas. "The Last Song" kinda bends the rules, as well as most of Sparks' novels. So don't expect no sex scenes, pervs!
The movie's background is basically this:
17 year old, Ronnie (that's Miley) and her younger brother are taken to their dad's place at beautiful Tybee Island, Georgia (the book was set in Coastal NC, the producers wanted it to be shot in NC but decided Georgia would be the setting of the movie). Years before, their parents divorced, so this explains why Ronnie acts hateful and hostile towards other in the beginning of the movie. But as time goes by, Ronnie meets Will, a rich boy that plays volleyball on the beach and they soon fall in love.
That's all I'll give you about the movie, but I can tell you there is a twist (*coughs* death) but I won't say who. You have to watch the movie to find out.
Despite the negative reviews, on a scale of one to ten, I give this movie a 9! It's a perfect love story and Miley does an excellent job! She cries, smiles, gets angry and you can actually feel her pain! As well as the other cast members. Liam Hemsworth who plays Ronnie's love interest, Will, does a great job as well for a newcomer. In my opinion, the whole cast is perfect, the setting is perfect, the plot is perfect. Everything is perfect! Males and females alike will love this movie. It's a perfect date night movie!

My score: 9 out of 10
Rent it or buy it: BUY!
^
This means if the movie is OK, it's best to rent it but if it is great, BUY!
